Premier League champions Manchester City face FA Cup holders Liverpool in the 100th edition of the FA Community Shield – a fixture both clubs know well.

Liverpool are 15-time winners of the Community Shield – previously known as the Charity Shield – while City have lifted the trophy on six occasions, most recently in a clash with the Reds. In 2019, Pep Guardiola’s men beat the Reds on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Wembley.

Liverpool head into the weekend’s game at the back of an impressive ten-game winning streak. While Pep Guardiola’s side seemed untouchable earlier in the season they have since seen their 14-point lead on January 15 eclipsed.

The rivalry between Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp goes back to their days in the Bundesliga when they were managers of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
